Saturday Spent Tiling the Backsplash and Fireplace

The tiling is complete! This is how we celebrated St. Paddy’s day. Tomorrow we will start grouting and caulking everything.

As shown in the previous post we chose white 3x6in. honed carrara marble tiles for the backsplash. For the fireplace, we chose polished carrara marble tile mosaics for the face and 12×24 in. tiles for the floor. We found all our tile at Floor and Decor, a great place to go if you want TONS of options.

Here is the partially finished project

Can you see some tan coloring showing through in the tile? That was a fun surprise because I thought the tiles were mostly going to be grey and white. As it turns out, I think it helps balance all the brown in the countertops.

we used a bull nose edge tile for the ledge of the window for a cleaner look

oh yeah. and here’s the fireplace!

new fireplace!

We also bought the hardware for the kitchen cabinets and drawers. I wanted bronzed fixtures on the white cabinets to help balance the light and dark theme we have going on throughout the kitchen (white cabinets, light colored backsplash, dark counter top, and now dark fixtures)

Have a happy Sunday!
